Miyako Doral Japanese and Peruvian Nikkei

I visited Miyako in Doral to satisfy my sushi craving and let me just say I left extremely satisfied and happy. Miyako has been around for two decades, it blends together two of my favorite cuisines, Japanese and Peruvian. Did you know that Peru has the second largest ethnic Japanese population in South America? That is why you get Peruvian dishes like arroz chaufa (variation of fried rice) and this is where Nikkei cuisines comes in combining the flavors and techniques of both cultures.

To start our meal we had the yellowtail hamachi tiradito and the torched salmon belly. The yellowtail hamachi tiradito comes in an aji amarillo sauce which the fish has also been marinating in with lime juice giving you a burst of flavor in every bite. The torched salmon belly is wrapped around avocado and asparagus, their special sauce on the bottom is the perfect compliment.

I have to rave about one of the best sushi rolls I have had to date, their watashi roll. Tuna is wrapped around krab salad, avocado, cream cheese and mango with a drizzle of eel sauce on the bottom. This is such a perfect roll, the flavors all go so well together!

The chef prepared a tuna tartar for us and it was delicious. It comes with citric segments which make it a little sweet and a little acidic.

We finished the delicious meal with their Thai donuts which come in a cup served kebab style with condensed milk in the bottom. They were slightly crunchy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside and getting to dip them in the condensed milk was pure bliss for my heart and tummy.
